Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This forum is such a wonderful idea...There really is truth in the concept that with age comes wisdom. For those who may dread the prospect of getting older, be at peace and welcome all that God has in store for your life as you venture closer to Him. I can share from experience, at the somewhat wise old age of 50, that with each year of life I have have had many rich and rewarding experiences, even though my life has been full of many trials and difficulties along the way...every single struggle has been kissed with a little touch of wisdom. A favorite quote, "Come grow old with me, the best is yet to be.", by Robert Browning, beautifully expresses how we ought to approach growing older. I'm looking forward to the wisdom that promises to be shared here!!!

Oh my!!! I have been praying that this would be added to this forum!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Can you tell this is an issue with me getting older! I am 43 and feel like the old maid at our local homeschooling moms group and I so want to talk to others who are so wonderfully graced in age

Looking forward to this!

God bless, Jackie

I was at a party last year and went to the back room where there were couches to nurse my baby. All the other nursing moms in there were about 20. They could have been my daughters. Talk about a reality check!

Oh, me too!! While I look like I fit in--I am "well preserved" as a good friend says, it is different being in your 40's and having young, active children.

Oh yes!!! Especially when your grandchildren are about the same age as your youngest!!

Thanks for starting this thread -- I've been waiting for it!

I'm glad to be here among you mature ladies!

I turned 44 in November....have a DS21, DS14, DD11, oneDSin Heaven, DS19 months, and I'm expecting a DS in April. Talk about feeling OLD!!!

Still, I can feel the wisdom growing.....more serene, more faith-filled, more trusting in God.

I've been loving the 40s so far!

God bless....I'm so glad to be here!

Thank you so much for this forum! Good to know I'm in good company with the rest of you lovely *older* ladies!

(Am I the oldest, having just turned 53?)

Peace,
Nancy

I'm not 40 yet, but peeking in here to say, I hope the age is the only requirement, as I don't know if I'll be wise enough in 11 months!

This is so nice. At 42 I'm the oldest mom in our homeschool group. It's nice to be among friends who are around the same age! My OB doctor keeps going on about how old I am to be pregnant. But, God is blessing me because I have met so many wonderful ladies in person and via these groups that are pregnant or have had babies in their 40's and even 50's.

I just turned 44 in January and still praying for Just One More.
So it is encouraging to read that Benedicta is expecting with 44years.

I am really starting to notice that my energy level is not what it used to be. Hey, so we read more than we play ball together. I decided I am not turning any more cartwheels until I get back in shape!

I don't know who had the idea to start this forum, but she certainly deserves applause from the crowd!

thanks

It's so good to have a place where we can fit in, as older Moms of little ones, and big ones! My oldest grandson is only 2 years younger than my youngest daughter!
Oh, I turned 40 last year, btw.

Allighty then, I'll be 42 in May, and definately feel wiser, it's interesting having a 10yo, down to an almost 2 yo!! Certainly keeps you young at heart indeed, and in humility
Great thread, looking to glean more wisdom

How fun! I'll be 45 in July ( I can't believe I said that:) and have children from 25y (next month) down to 5y. And my first grandson is only 13 months younger than my 5 yo twins:) Wiser in some things but with oh so much yet to learn.

This is a great idea!! I just turned 51 last week.........I have a 10 year old and 3 grown children and a 3 year old granddaughter. I don't have much in common with my homeschooling friends, except to say to them....."been there, done that!!" when they start discussing their young children.

OK: I'm not sure about wisdom (wiser than I was in younger days - but a long, long way to go) but I meet the age criteria as I will be 47 in the Spring. My children range in age from 19 to 4 and I am in the group begging for another- waning fertility as a near possibility is probably my most difficult challenge so far - and the fact that I want to read, and do and my eyes are really going buggy.

Never thought about age much as there were so many ways we stood out anyways! That is, until I showed up at a family function for my college student. When I checked to see if it was a family event or adult only event, I was told family and encouraged to bring the family. I brought the family, and didn't think anything of it until I showed up with all in tow and got the looks and the rush you through so you don't spoil the event routine - a very clear sense that this was not designed for the pre-teen crowd. It just never occured to us that when they encouraged us to bring our family, they had pictured a few other older teens, ie potential alumni in a few years. The next time I ask about family event, I'll be sure to remind them of the ages of my children. I must say, though, I do get a kick out of showing up on campus to visit and the college dd loves to see her siblings.

I guess I have discovered that while, in my younger days, I could get away with neglect of things like sleep, now this will send me into a spiral. This should be a fun thread. Paula and the other moms with grandchildren - wow. This is what always dreamed of - never ever having a lapse when there wasn't a little one in the house (either my own or a grandchild).

I turned 44 in Dec. I feel that I have learned so much since I have been in my forties. I am learning how to be the kind of wife that God desires me to be. The same goes with mothering. I am learning how to have a more quiet and calm spirit. Our family is in the middle of a struggle right now and I am learning in the midst of this how to die to self.

There is so much to learn. Some of it can be learned through books, but most of it is learned through real life.

Blessings,
Julia

Renee, when in November? Mine is the 12th, but I turned 45....

Oh, and I wanted to say that my grandchildren are 4, 3, and 1.

I get a few looks at the store...... I assume they are jealous!

I will be turning 50 in March. I have 8 kids from 28 to 8 years old, and two grandbabies with two more on the way. Three of my kids are married, one just out of college and living in DC, another one in the Army, and one in college. Then there are my "babies" here at home, 11 and 8. I was 41 when I had the last, and if I could have, I would have had more(we did 8 CSections and gestational diabetes and placenta previa). DH says that he thinks menopause was God's way of making sure that those of us older and wiser would be here to teach the younger women. I too feel like the "oldy" at homeschool functions. It will be nice to have others a bit closer to my age going through the same things I am.
