Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was just about to introduce the new composer of the month thread, when I realized I couldn't explain what an adagio is.

I had this realization when I began to tell my son, in response to his question, that it is a slow movement in classical music. The conversation went on like:

You know what I mean, it's that part of the music...well, it's different than... um ... you know when ...

That's when I decided to post here.

This is from my little handy music theory dictionary

http://www.amazon.com/Music-theory-dictionary-language-mecha nics/dp/B0007H43UY/sr=1-2/qid=1170266825/ref=sr_1_2/105-3684 768-4770060?ie=UTF8&s=books

Adagio(It.) A slow tempo, slower than andante, but not so slow as largo.

Hmmm... not sure if this will help???
