Hi, all --
I hope this doesn't sound frivolous, but just wanted to ask for a quick prayer for our kids to get over losing their beloved hamster, Fluffy. She was two years old. We don't know exactly what happened, but she got hurt and then had to be put to sleep. The girls were just crushed. Even my dh thought she was "a sweet hamster." I've never seen one that could be handled as much as Fluffy let the girls handle her (they even dressed her in Barbie clothes!)
Anyway, I'm sure we'll get a new pet soon as the hermit crabs are quite boring. But, a prayer for healed hearts and the right pet will be appreciated!

Praying, Karen. I'm sympathetic. We're watching our 15 year old cat deteriorate...
Love,

Thanks, Angie and Janette!
Tomorrow we're going to a pet adoption day hosted by the local pound. We've made no promises to the kids about adopting one right away, but it will be fun to go look. If the perfect pet begs for us to take it home, though, we'll all be pretty happy.
Angie, I'm sorry to hear about your cat. That's so hard. My sister just lost both of her Yorkies (they were 18 and 14 years old) and she's grieving. She was never able to have children, and the dogs were her babies. This is so hard on her.
Thanks for the prayers.

St. Francis intercede for the perfect pet, Karen!
Also for healing for your sister's losses. Understand as we love our dog so much.

Well, St. Francis came through for us. We found a lovely cat at the pound today. He's probably a year old, is beautiful, and has spent a good part of the day sitting in the girls' laps. What a sweetie.
Now, we just have to stop bickering over the name and settle on one! It's down to Mr. Putter, James, Louie, Max or Ribsy.
And thanks for your prayers for my sister. She's really taking the loss of her dogs so hard. I feel such sympathy for her.

This brought such a smile to my face, Karen. How adorable--but how extremely sad for the kids.
We will pray for them.

Thanks, Alice. The new cat has, of course, taken a lot of the sting out of the loss. This cat is so mellow that I'll be glad to get him to the vet for his check-up and make sure he isn't sick! He's so affectionate, and we all love that.
