I was noticing during a recent trip to our local hobby store all the resources we Catholics can use to celebrate our own liturgical year. . heart and shamrock decorations abound at this time of year, reminding me not only of the obvious observances but bringing to mind feasts of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts and Trinity Sunday. . .
God Bless,

Isn't it great, Melinda? If you can just put a "Liturgical Year Thinking Cap" on when you go shopping there are loads of ideas that we can do with the secular crafts! I have to give rave compliments to Alice and MaryM that have that keen vision at all times!

You are too kind, Jenn.
For the past eight years of running our Catholic Girls (now Catholic Boys and Girls) Club, it's been my practice to walk through the craft store before the event praying to the Holy Spirit for guidance.
As laudable as that sounds, there is a practicality in it. I am a terrible list maker, so I'm usually at the craft store with no concrete plan in mind. It is more difficult to me to follow an idea from a book than it is to come up with something on the spot! Hence the desperate prayers for help!

I have to add that I enjoy Hobby Lobby over the other chains -- plus they are closed on Sundays around here!

I believe that Hobby Lobby is a Christian run store.

Hobby Lobby is unabashadly Christian. They take out huge ads at Christmas and Easter to spread their Christian message. They are closed on Sundays with a sign on their door stating that they are providing time for their employees to worship.
I just pulled this quote off their website:
In order to effectively serve our owners, employees, and customers the Board of Directors is committed to:
Honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles.
Offering our customers an exceptional selection and unbeatable value.
Serving our employees and their families by establishing a work environment and company policies that build character, strengthen individuals, and nurture families.
Providing a return on the owners' investment, sharing the Lord's blessings with our employees, and investing in our community.
We believe that it is by God's grace and provision that Hobby Lobby has endured. He has been faithful in the past, we trust Him for our future.

I love Hobby Lobby!! And, this week, they're having a huge needlecraft sale. I'm starting to knit a baby blanket (for someone else) and need to buy needles and yarn (50% off needles!!). I'm headed there tomorrow during LB's therapy.
