If I had taken a closer look at the baby in the picture on the box, I would have realized this sling might not work for us. 
The baby in the sling is in tears & looks so uncomfortable.  I didn't even think to look at the baby. I just wanted to have Teresa close, but still be able to do things (free hands). ....and this was the only "sling" BabiesRus had. Maybe it was too difficult to get a pic of a happy child in this sling.
Teresa screamed her head off.

Oh, the pic on my box in front of me is a close up. Baby isn't sleep, but getting upset.

maya wrap slings are wonderful.. I just got one after just using whatever I got.. and it's worth it just for the flap of fabric you can flip over the point of your shoulder so the sling can't slide onto your neck.
I just picked up the living room with my 8 week old in it.. and sitting here now with her sound asleep.
It comes with a dvd so no guessing on how to use it.
BUT I generally can't get a baby to settle in the sling at first without walking around.. they're just not used to it and the walking around helps calm them and allows you to work on adjusting the sling and such.

I just bought a Moby D Wrap this week. We had been discussing it here a couple of weeks ago. It is wonderful. By far the best carrier I have ever had, over the Maya Wrap, a traditional sling, an OTSBH sling, and various front packs. (Yes, I have tried them all!).
The Moby D settles the baby squarely on your body. The stretchy fabric truly spreads the weight evenly. The fabric panel gives great support for a heavier baby. And you can be truly hands-free. They can face in or out very comfortably and securely. There are various holds depending on baby's age and size. It is comfy, snug, and light weight. Today was very cold and we were walking outside for a while. I was able to wear the wrap under my coat without any bulkiness and snuggle my baby very close to keep her warm.
I bought mine from a site called Mom4Life.com. The owner gives 10% of sales to a crisis pregnancy center. She also helped me pick the carrier that was best for me and sent me two different kinds to try.

Michaela, that black toile sling was my very favorite, favorite sling ever!!! I purchased it for Eileen when she was born, and we loved it so much that I sent it to several friends as baby gifts!!! And I loved it for nursing too--it fit perfectly and formed such a modest tent!
Then, I idiotically left it at a restaurant and it was never turned in!

After reading your responses, I tried again and see the problem isn't with the sling, but the sling operator. As long as I move around when she is put it everything is fine. Actually, she slept a good two hours without so much as a whimper.
If I could figure out how to nurse discreetly, I could see us going places...like the park & I don't have to run off to a private spot. I'm sure it will come with a little more practice though. I can't expect to be an expert sling user my first time.

Michaela.. I'm so glad you were able to work it out. It's such a freeing thing to have a sling (of any type) that gives you free hands, keeps your arms from falling off (or at least feeling that way ) and lets you get out more with all the kids
Keep practising and I'm sure you'll get the nursing with it down in no time.

I second the Moby Wrap. I've tried so many different carriers and I think everyone HAS to agree that this is the most comfortable one on the market. The only downside is that it can be cumbersome to deal with the long fabric when you try to put it on outside or something.
I also love my Adjustable Fleece Pouch from KangarooCorner.com
Wonderful, wonderful sling... my son loves it.
I've found that none of my boys liked the cradle hold you always see in the pictures. They all like to be upright. In my pouch from Kangaroo Corner, they are snug, tucked in upright right against me. The worst thing about this sling is that you have to choose from so many beautiful patterns!!!
