Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We're doing a unit study on Cambodia. So far we've read the following picture books:

Judge Rabbit and the Tree Spirit by Lina Mao Wall
How the Farmer Tricked the Evil Demon by Alice Lucas
Grandfather's Stories from Cambodia by Donna Roland
More of Grandfather's Stories from Cambodia by Donna Roland
Mr. Basket Knife and Other Khmer Folktales Translated by A.R. Milne (wonder how he's related to the AA Milne? haven't had time to find info)

We also found a chapter book for older kids, "The Clay Marble" by Minfong Ho

There are a few other older-kid books too that we checked out -- more textbooky, but some look interesting (just borrowed a bunch of Cambodia books classified as "Book-Juvenile"):

Cambodia: A Portrait of the Country Through Its Festivals and Traditions
Cambodia by Marc Tyler Nobleman
Cambodia by Miriam Greenblatt
The Land and People of Cambodia by David P. Chandler
Cambodia by Claudia Canesso
Pol Pot by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.
Sihanouk by Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.

Lastly, we're cooking Cambodian food this month for my network blog; if anyone's interested I can post recipes here, or check out the book "The Elephant Walk Cookbook" written by the Cambodian restaurant (Elephant Walk) owner in Massachusetts. Or, come visit
Cambodian Recipes at AboutWeblogs.com where I'll be featuring Cambodian recipes for a few weeks.
