Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My mil recently had heart surgery during which she had a double stroke. She is in re-hab and doing better, but she is really struggling with learning to talk again. The speech therapist in the rehab center suggested that her husband get her something made my Leap Frog - sort of like a leap pad for adults. We can't find anything like this anywhere. Another suggestion he gave was language learning tapes but for English. Does anyone have any suggestions for what we could get her? I know she doesn't want anything baby-ish. It's been a long road for her and we would like to help in anyway we can, I just have no ideas.

How about Rosetta Stone for American English? We used this with my son about a year ago to help improve his vocabulary.

Becky, if you'd like, PM me (or post here, if you want) with more details - I used to be a speech pathologist and spent a short while working with stroke victims. It would help me to know more about what the speech therapist said, if you remember, or what you have seen that she can and can't do. I'll see if I can dig around and find some useful info/products.
