Here's your chance to commit yours to print, even if you change your mind come April. I hope this thread hasn't already been started. I didn't find it if it has.
This year I'm going to try to be more optimistic. I am way too negative. I'm also going to seriously work on this in the children because it has rubbed off on them.
I'm going to learn how to knit.
We're going to try for the 5 First Saturdays again.
I'm going to try to be consistent in making the kids do their basic daily jobs.
I'm going to plan the week's meals more consistently.
Then I have some personal spiritual things added. . .

I try to think in terms of habits -- not that much different than resolutions but short-circuits my perfectionism -- takes time and effort to develop habits and a slip-up can be part of progress:
My main one so far is:
Celebrating Abundance -- memorizing this motto from the Great Depression to give me a guideline.
Use it up
Wear it out
Make it do
Do without
I ditto the positive thinking. I want to try to focus on options and possibilities rather than negatives.
I have an ongoing one about treating my body like a Temple of the Holy Spirit -- ie eating and sleeping and being active in a way respectful to myself as God's creation. This is a lifetime project but New Years is a good time to renew

I really like the idea of putting these out there; makes me feel like if someone else knows them I will feel more accountable. Here's where I am so far -
* Start with 14 week plan to get house clean and organized
* Keep on top of household chores using cleaning calendar
* 36 X 36 (pounds x age)
* Read bible daily
* Got to confession once per month
* Exercise for at least 30 minutes 3 times per week
* Play more with my children
* Get my Stampin' Up! business back on track

I was going to say less computer for me and less TV for the children, but then I realized I just turned on the TV for the kids so I could spend time on the computer. Hmmmm. One more day, right?

Last year I "resolved never, ever to blog." Now, maybe I'm thinking I should back away from resolutions.

Ah, but Elizabeth, this time I threw in that disclaimer about changing our minds, so you're safe this year!
I'm glad you changed your mind, too!

I usually make up a list of wishes for the year as a sort of first step toward taking action. (THings like, "I wish I knew how to sew, I wish I was eating better, etc.) This year I think I have finally moved on to goals.
This year some of the things I want to do are:
1. Learn how to sew.
2. Make more of a committment to eat seasonally and buy locally produced organic meat and produce
3. Learn more about homeopathic medicine
4. Study Charlotte Mason more in depth.
5. Take it easy through a pregnancy for once. (No moves this time!!)

i'm not sure where i read this yesterday, but i thought it was a great idea. on nye, you get out a little box and each person writes (on a scrap of paper) their prayers or hopes or dreams for the new year. then you put the box in your christmas storage and get it out again next year. you look to see how your prayers were answered - maybe not the answer you wanted, but answered! i think we will try this today.
anyway, we are all chatting about our prayers and dreams and hopes for the new year today. i'm excited to see what the kids will put down on paper.

Mine are:
- to be more patient
- to avoid raising my voice
- to ascribe good intentions to everyone
- to be more positive (see the stars rather than the mud)

I hesitate to put this in print...........
1. pray the Rosary regularly
2. get the basement organized, which means throwing out loads!
3. develop and implement a personal schedule for me
I better stop here!

Willa have you heard this Best of Mary Lu Walker? She has a song with this motto as the lyrics. We all sing along, and more than once since my mom gave us the cd, I've heard kids muttering "make 'em do, make 'em do, make 'em do."
For our resolution, Bill and I decided to try to start a family rosary again.

Here is what I have so far. I won't work on it all at once but this is my plan for the year.
-teach the children the Rosary (I purchased the CHC Rosary prints to help with this)
-make a plan for each day--can't hit anything if you don't aim for it
-catch up on my scrapbooks (I would love any suggestions on how to get this done. It is important to me but I can't seem to find time and motivation.)
-DH and I need to loose 15 pounds each
-plan meals
-start reading chapter books to the kids
-enforce daily toy pick-up
I'm sure I'll think of more but that should get me started, right ?
