Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have or know where I can print off a list of chronological,worthwhile,bios/living books for American History for elementary age? Read alouds as well as independent reads.
History is not my strong suit and I need all the help and lists I can get.
Thanks in advance

Hi, Darlene,

If you have Elizabeth's book, check out the reading list in the back. If not, find it here. Just click on "Suggestions toward a curriculum" in the sidebar.

Take a look at the timeline from Bethlehem Books.

You also might want to try the Book in Time list.

And, if you plan to throw in a movie or two (obviously, lots of discretion must be used here, and I'm not recommending everything on this list, just tossing it in for your info), check out this site, which sorts movies into historical time periods.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Jen! That one's the best! It was nagging at me that I had left something out ... the list just seemed incomplete ....

What about the history book lists at the Mother of Divine Grace Books Lists website? It has it listed by grade. Although this list is not exhaustive, its nice in that it has books that the child can read for themselves as well as books that can be read to them. My dd has really enjoyed the books for this year (3rd grade). HTH.
