Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Why do I have this? I think Michele recommended it to me some time ago, but I can't remember why? . I took it today instead of raspberry. (They're both in those white bottles with the green leaves.) Anyway, what's it for??

It has a lot of uses but I tend to recommend it for yeast infections. Does that sound familiar?

Description:

Pau d'arco, or the inner bark of the Tabebuia avellanedae tree, is native to Brazil, where it is used traditionally to treat a wide range of conditions including pain, arthritis, inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis), fever, dysentery, boils and ulcers, and various cancers.

Preliminary laboratory research examining the properties of pau d'arco is beginning to suggest that the traditional uses may have scientific merit. Such laboratory studies have shown that pau d'arco has pain killing, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, anti-psoriatic, and anti-cancer abilities. Taking this early data, combined with information collected about traditional uses, herbalists may recommend pau d'arco to treat or prevent a number of conditions, including candidiasis (a yeast infection of the vaginal or oral areas), herpes simplex virus, influenza, parasitic diseases such as schistosomiasis, bacterial infections such as brucellosis, and inflammation of the cervix (cervicitis) or the vagina (vaginitis).

Pau d'arco may also reduce inflammation of the joints associated with arthritis.

Hmmm...I saw that description. I conquered yeast 3 1/2 years ago. Could have been that. Was hoping it was a prolapse remedy...

Yes really. You can get it in capsules (which I think is better) from Nature's Way. Astragulous has the added benefit of being an immune support. I'm telling you it works. More than one midwife has commented on the health of my cervix this time around.

Yes, Pau d'Arco is great for yeast infections. Michele, thanks so much for sharing about the Astragulous, I've never found a herb to help in that department. I'm definetly going to look into it more.

Michele....Wow...thanks for the info that I didn't know on Astragalus. I used to take it to strengthen my immunity...as I was always getting sick. I wondered what helped my body get better with my prolapse issues after baby number five. I felt better after babies 6-9 ?

Pau d'Arco isn't safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding is it?

I usually go to kellymom.com for info...what sites do you use for good info?
