Please pray for my husband. His hard drive on his computer crashed about a week ago and he lost a book that he had been working on for 20 years. He has been really working assiduously at it for the last couple of years and had recently turned a corner and worked out a major problem he was having with the ending. He saw the light at the end of the tunnel and was so excited. The next day, his hard drive crashed. We have a friend who is an IT guy at a local University and he and his colleagues have looked at it and declared they can't retrieve the data. The last outlet is one of those exorbitantly expensive professional guys who claim they can recover the data. We are even willing to fork over whatever it takes, if its salvageable. Please pray. My husband is bereft and my heart is broken for him.

Oh, Kathleen, that is just awful! 
Do the professionals guarantee they can retrieve the book or you don't have to pay their high fee?
I pray they are able to do this for your husband.

Just makes me go pale and feel sick in the bottom of my stomach thinking about it. I'm so sorry. I'll pray for recovery success and peace along the way.

oh my, that is just heartbreaking.
praying that they are able to recover the data for him. my dh is currently working on our pc trying to get it to work as it crashed yesterday -- with all our pictures, liturgical year plans, lesson plans, etc. i know how stressful it can be for everyone.
praying to St. Francis de Sales (patron saint of writers) that he is able to get his book back!

Praying!!! I had to have the Geek Squad help me recover all the data on my computer when it crashed. Luckily they were able to save everything. I pray they will be able to recover everything for you.
