Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone read The Gilgamesh Trilogy? We've gone off on a rabbit trail about ancient Sumer, Babylon and Assyria; resources are pretty slim for the early elementary aged group. I'm just wondering if it's worth paying the $3/book Inter-Library Loan fee for these books.

Thanks!

We really liked these books. I would definitely recommend them.

Another great big YES! We loved these books...the artwork is really cool, too. For fun, I got my own copy of Gilgamesh, translated by David Ferry. It's a quick read and gives you a little more of the story than the childrens' trilogy. Still, the kids' books do a fairly good job at retelling the story.

I have the Mason translation. I had read it in college, and started re-reading it this weekend. It was far more graphic about the "taming" of Enkidu than I would like for the kids. But, the version by Geraldine McCaughrean is "cleaned up" quite a bit.
I'm glad to hear that the Zeman versions are worthwhile. I'm going to have to see if my library waives the ILL fee for teachers.
