My 11 yr old is getting his own cd player for xmas and we would like to get him his own music too.
He likes it to have a "kick".
I would like it to be Catholic.
So can you wonderful ladies recommend Catholic music that your young men enjoy?
TIA!

Martha,
I'd recommend checking out the Catholic Jukebox online. You can preview some selections from some of the artists http://www.catholicjukebox.com My son Jack LOVES gregorian chant and we enjoy the Chant series by the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos
Though they aren't Catholic, we also enjoy Casting Crowns and Selah to put a little boogie in our worship music!
Blessings,
Nissa

My boys like anything Irish. They are listening to Irish Heartbeat by Van Morrison and the Cheiftains right now. The Clancy Brothers are also big around here.

Local favorite, Matt Maher...more... and more, has kick and more! I hope that there is a clip of Welcome to Life in the links somewhere, it is one of my 11yo ds's favorites. My ds loves music and has a very broad palette which includes music with kick .
Love,

I just read an article aboutCatholic Music 2007. It looks like a Catholic version of the Christian WOW series (which my son has enjoyed also.)

We love Newsboys here, too! We also like Big Band music!
Do you personally know any musicians? Some neighbors of ours are big into jazz and a couple of times we've gone with them to a local pizzeria where there are concerts and dancing. It was so sweet when Mr. Richardson asked my girls to dance and they stood on his feet while he moved.
My son got into it, too!
It was very intimate so no big crowds and it gave my kids some exposure to jazz which dare I say? I've not gotten into...just an idea, Martha.

We love him!! Thanks for posting the links, Angie. We snuck out of town before I could post about him. We recently purchased his third CD, Overflow, and it is great!
