Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have never posted a question here before, mostly because I find most of my questions answered in the archives!      I didn't find much in the archives about this, but maybe I missed it. Let me know if this is the case.

I am obsessively considering all of these new mediums that have entered into my life over the past year…..digital camera, blogging, scrapbooking, journaling, tracking/record keeping for Home Education. I am new to all of these things.

My old “system” is woefully out-of-date;   I need to come up with a new “system.” But before I did this, I figured that I must ask the “experts.” (That would be all of you from whom I have gleaned so much over the past year or so!)

So……if any of you would like to answer here or consider posting about this on your blogs…..

Hmmmm….perhaps there is a “Loveliness Fair” idea here…..The Loveliness of Family Memories??????

For example:
How do you manage digital photos? What to print? What to archive?
How has blogging changed how you do your scrapbooks or photo albums?
Do you hard-copy your blog?
What is your system for scrapbooking?
Do you write about your children? How? Keeping track of education? Development? Stories, etc.

Looking forward to any feedback!

Suzanne,
These are great questions. The only thing I have much experience with is scrapbooking. I too am new to blogging, digital photos and home education. I will post my experience on my blog, hopefully tonight, but if not, definitely this week. I would like to hear what others have to say, especially about managing digital photos.

Great topic!

Well, I'm too much of a perfectionist to scrapbook. (One page takes me hours)
I do keep a journal especially for memories/stories about the kids and our lives.
I also keep our main calendar up to date with what activities we did that day.

The camcorder is also used to record memories.
I mostly rely of my digital camera. I save all pics to a disk and print out many of them for our albums. The kids love looking through pictures and I think it really helps cement their memories.

One of these days I'm hoping to purchase a video program where one can set a picture slide show to music. I would like to choose my favorites from the year and make a video.

Nicole:
That's a good point about the "perfectionst tendencies"...this is where KNOW THY SELF comes in handy

Hmmmm...and the "main calendar" serves two functions in your case....planning and recording. I've never thought of actually KEEPING those. That would be an easy way of recording using something you're already doing.

Katherine on her blog A Living Education has a slide show with music from a free service. She says it's easy! I may try it someday. The slideshow brings a tear to your eye....the music really adds to the "sense" of the preciousness of childhood. It's wonderful.

Thanks, Suzanne! The first time my dh watched the slideshow he got very teary. That totally made it worth it!

That slideshow was VERY easy. It was a free widget through Typepad. The music was free or you could use music saved from files on your computer. The free service is called One True Media.

I'm a perfectionist too and scrapbooking would be the death of me. I much prefer being able to easily edit things and my children and extended family absolutely love the multimedia dimension of memory making through a blog.
