Do you make your dc dress before starting school? I always have the intention to but once the colder morning set in it is really difficult to get them out of their comfy pjs and into clothes. Heck! it is difficult for me. I tend to want to get going with things and once we are going I find it difficult to stop and get dressed. Being in pjs doesn't seem to create an atmosphere of laziness. It doesn't seem to slow us down. But somehow I feel that we should get dressed  earlier. (we are usually dressed before lunch-except for my 4yo that refuses). What is it like at your house?

Well. It depends. I always make my kids get dressed, but sometimes I am in my pj's until noon!
I do find that the later we are in our pj's the less we get done, so I do make an effort. But some days I am just plain lazy. In fact, last year for Lent I gave up staying in pj's all morning. I had to be out of them by 9am. This year I am going for 8!LOL!

If you locate your toilet a couple hundred yards away in a bathhouse you'll find yourself getting dressed pretty early in the morn!

I used to go to early morning college classes in my PJs (a women's college).  PJs are fine here, though as the kids get older they seem to want to dress for the day as soon as they get up.

I try from time to time to enforce a rule about being dressed in *real* clothes before starting school work. I always wind up caving to their arguments that they are going to shower and get dressed as a study break -- which they really do. Lately, I am in a mode of not to choose *schoolday attire* as the battle I am engaging.

We actually have occasional "pajama days" -- y'know the days where it's pretty grey out or we just all feel a bit blah -- the kids stay in the their pj's and we cuddle on the couch and read and read and read.....sometimes the kids declare the pj day, but I'm usually the one who says "pajama day" and a big cheer goes up!

I LOVE the idea of declaring a PJ day. We all dress. I live in a neighborhood, and I never know who is going to show up at my door. Last winter, when I was sequestered indoors with two nursing infants, the babies and I were pretty much was in sleep and wear attire all the time...terrifying the UPS man more than once I'm afraid. I find that I feel more productive when I am dressed, and the kids are too....not too mention that I don't panic when the doorbell rings!
However, a once-in-a-while pajama day sounds great.

That is kind of the way I feel. After all it doesn't really affect their productivity.

If we have outside appointments, DD dresses, if not it is up to her.
When DD#2 was homeschooled she lived in polar fleece pants/PJ's . I did ask her to change sometime in the day, but usually it would be into a pair of flannel long boxer pants, especially when we had the fireplace fired up.
I always dress, becasue I have been "caught" a few too many times--with the local farmer occaionally dropping off hay(what time did he load the truck if he was here by 7?), people occasionally dropping in to tell me we have sheep out (BTW, great way to get to know the neighbors), and a lost heating oil delivery man stopping for directions, township superviser asking for quinces from the tree.....

We dress every day in our "school clothes" just so I'm not washing pajamas (covered in jam and play dough) every day!  I DO have enough changes of clothes for each child to last through a week of laundry, but I DON'T have enough pairs of pajamas
So we dress each morning before prayer time and breakfast and on the days when everyone is sick (like today  ) or we just need some extra cuddle time on a rainy morning, "Pajama Day" is a big hit here too...throw in some cocoa and hot cinnamon rolls and we're in heaven

It is so arbitrary in our home. Some days, esp. gray, dreary days, are definitely PJ days. But for the most part, we have too many outside activities to do PJ days very often.
My teenager seems to think this is a new right, waiting until lunchtime or later (when he has to go out to some activity) to dress. I try to choose my battles wisely, so I do not argue.  It has not affected his work, otherwise, the situation would be different.
My dd, on the other hand, showers and dresses everyday.  Perhaps she is mimicking her parents in always wanting to be prepared.
But for the most part, we do dress daily.

We always dress in the morning before getting started - but my dc often sleep in their clothes to save time so I guess it's not much different than coming down in PJs.

We always dress and do grooming - always have - I just feel better about myself and the dc ( and the house!) if everything is kind of shipshape. So, its an unwritten rule.
It also gets us into the right frame of mind - time to get about our day, whatever that day might be.
And I don't blush at unexpected visitors!
