On any given day,
How much time do you spend on the internet for "non-work / non-school related" things?
How much time do you spend on BB/Forums/Lists?
How many time(s) a day do you check your email?
Do you ever have *bad* days where you spend WAY too much time just surfing/reading....(or is that just me ?)

Too much.
I need to work on this but it is so hard. Since we moved I lost a lot of neighbor friends and I can get lonely for some adult interaction-so I come here A LOT! I feel like I have taken part in a conversation even when I don't post--keeps me sane If I had to "time" it, on computer doing internet, lists, forums, e-mail, etc. I might be up to an hour to two per day.
I check e-mail constantly-and more now that dh is on his around the world trek-always looking for notes from him.
Yes, bad days, which I have had a lot of lately, involve popping a video in for the kids(yesterday it was Winnie the Pooh--90 minutes!) and surf, write, read, and I should be doing something constructive like wash the kitchen counters
So, Laura, it is not just you
Anne, who is now off to wash those kitchen counters....

Laura
So funny you asked this I have being meaning to ask it too
I limit myself to an hour per day, sometimes I don't make that. I am only on this forum and an Australian Catholic egroup.
I also try to write on my blog twice weekly, I have a couple of blogs from here that I love to check out however everyone has great blogs and I haven't even checked out many. i would love to do that but can't manage it. I'd love to hear how others manage reading many blogs.
I check my mail once/twice daily, I am trying to limit myslef to once Dh and dc keep me from spending too much time on the net
confession time for you now Laura

O.K. I've been meaning to ask this, too.
I check e-mail, send a few, read these forums and a few blogs (there are 4-5 that I read daily) and it seems like it is about one hour and a half out of my day. That is on a GOOD day! Most of that time is spent after the children go to bed at night, but I do check these forums sometime in late morning/ early afternoon. Sometimes I venture out and read a few blogs that I do not normally get to. Sometimes I am online catalogue searching etc.
But, yes, Laura, there are those BAD DAYS when it seems as though every hour on the hour I am doing SOMETHING on the computer. This is one area I need to seriously manage!!
I'm amazed at those of you with blogs. I feel as though I barely have enough time to read the blogs that I'd like, much less write one! I would love to blog for the journal-keeping part of it, but I feel as though I am hardly keeping my head above water being faithful to my duties as a wife and HS mom!
How do the rest of you DO it? Please keep sharing about this important topic!

For non-school related browsing on the net = no time. If I'm not looking through 4Real boards or related blogs, gathering ideas and inspiration for eduactional and family life purposes, I'm offline.
Time at 4Real forum? M-F I try to keep it to about an hour or two a week..total. Saturdays are our doughnuts and coffee mornings where the kids play in their jammies until mid-morning and I get to really enjoy reading online. Sundays: usually not at all but since dh has been really busy during pumpkin season, I've been logging on when he's napping on the couch during the football games (like now!)
Email checks per day? I try to keep up with an every-other-day check... maybe twice or three times a week (if I'm lucky)
Bad days? Oh yeah. When I'm really feeling frustrated about why I can't seem to fit all the pieces of the home education puzzle together (so I can have that lovely daydream come true... ) I can get really caught up in following what everyone else is doing, making lists of ideas and plans, pouring over blogs and bringing myself back to the reality that it's not all for naught...I already do have the daydream come true. It just needed a little dose of reality (called "this is what EVERYONE is dealing with..." ) God always brings good from those bad days! (as only He can!!)

I admit that I spend too much time on the computer some days. It is only this board and blogs, plus my blog (which takes the least time of all as I don't do alot of time-consuming posting of links and stuff anymore, and my sidebars are woefully out-of date). But my bloglines are up to 66 feeds now and that is too much, but I hate to miss out on all the good stuff you ladies are saying! I try to comment if I can, but often I just read(I've read them ALL today, left perhaps 4-5 comments). But today is a non-school day here (county schools are out for a teacher workday. I need one too!)
On good days I spend about an hour, spaced throughout the day in snippets here and there (I just leave this board and bloglines up in 2 windows and revisit whenever I get a chance through the day).
On bad days... I don't even want to say.
