Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

First, let me say that I am praying for those who have recently asked for prayers and are miscarrying. I am so very sorry for your losses. I know how terribly painful those losses are.

I am asking if I might for prayers for a baby to hurry up and be born at the moment. I am currently 37 weeks and counting. I've had my last 2 babies planned, at home with a licensed midwife. This baby is planned at home as well. In SC where I live, you must see an OB at the beginning and end of each pregnancy if you are using a lay midwife. I had my final OB visit just a couple of days ago. To make a long story short, the doctor raised some concerns about the large size of this baby. I am measuring 44 at my 36 week checkup.   He wanted to do an ultrasound and I conceded. His measurements put the baby at 7 lbs. 14 oz. I do not have gestational diabetes, either. My second baby was 8 lbs. 11 oz. at 40 weeks and I had a very prolonged 2nd stage of labor and a very frightening 4 minute shoulder dystocia where his shoulder got stuck under my pubic bone after his head crowned. He was deprived of oxygen for those 4 minutes and was born blue and not breathing. Now, my midwife assures me that big babies are not the only risk factor for shoulder dystocia and my body has birthed another baby in between. I am asking for prayers for peace and for baby to hurry up and pop out of the oven before it gets any juicier.

Thankyou all so much for the richness you add to my life with your wit, life experience and wisdom.

God bless,
Kathleen

Dear Kathleen,
Praying for you; I know the fear of a large baby with shoulder dystocia...This happened with my 7 month old and she was born at 39 weeks...my OB told me that "if" I had another baby, he'd want to induce me at 38 weeks next time (this all said to me minutes after Tess' birth as I waited to birth my placenta!)..nothing like looking ahead!
May God's peace surround you in your final days of pregnancy...St. Gerard, pray for her!

Dear Kathleen,

St. Gerard intercede for you!

Our Lady put her mantle around you.

You have my prayers. Please let us hear when you are able to kiss that sweet newborn head!

Praying, Kathleen, my sweet friend!

I'm thinking perhaps we could try you on a mini-trampoline or something, since we hate walking so much...we'll bounce that sweet dumpling right out!

St. Gerard, pray for Kathleen!

love you,

I'm with you, Kathleen. I'm waiting for our fourth baby to come anytime and I'm growing another large child. It was my second who gave us concerns with shoulder dystocia. I, too, am praying for peace. Please keep us posted and I'll do the same.

Love,
