I am planning to purchase an apple peeler/corer/slicer and can't decide on the one from pampered chef or the one offered at large family logistics.

Has anyone used these...how do they compare?

Also, is one easier for children to use?

Hi, Marie!

I have experience with both of these! My sister has the pampered chef peeler........and I loved it....till I saw Shawna's (same as at family logistics). I LOVED Shawna's even more..........she even lent it to me, and the kids ate more apples than ever

Shawna, ever so sweet ..........got me the peeler for my birthday a couple of years ago    ........and I am ever glad that she did! Even a two year can do it with just a bit of help. The kids love using it. Nice quick and healthy snack for wee visitors.

Going back and using my sister's at her house, proved to me which was the one I preferred. It did not have the suction........like the other. With the suction, you can use it in more places.....

I was concerned about the clamp eventually damaging my counters, esp in the hands of rough children use.

So, now you have my opininated vote

Just want to second the recommendation for the suction-based one. I have the PC one I bought at a party years ago and I really wish I would have got a suction one instead. The clamp is quite tricky to use, at least on my counters.

And thanks for the LFL link - that's a great price!

I have the PC one, but also the stand to clamp it on. My mother had the suction. I can't stand the suction. Once the apple juices start dripping, the suction is gone and you have to hold the peeler to keep from moving.

I have the suction one from WIlliams Sonoma - LOVE IT!. I have never had a problem with the apple juice getting under the suction cup and then the corer/peeler/slicer moving around. A friend of mine had the clamp one - it looked like too much work, to be honest.

For all who have this (I have the pc one,) how does it handle "soft" apples? Like MacIntosh? Mine just chews them to bits. Is there a tension I should try to adjust? Mine is about 10 or so years old. I hate to have it sit there and gather dust. I have become rather quick at peeling by hand, though!

Thanks, and God Bless,

Cici, that is where my peeler came from, too........I just could not get "cracker barrel" out of my head...

I have had the same experience as you.......I have never lost suction..........it always works just fine for me.
