Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK, let me preface my remarks with the fact that I'm somewhat of a computer geek......

I got the best software today -- it's called Crazy Machines and it is so much fun. You're given a problem with some of the pieces available, then you have to add the parts that are given to solve the puzzle. You can also build and test your own machines.

This is Rube Goldberg at its finest! I got my copy at Target for $4.95 (on the clearance rack -- which is usually my favorite spot at Target ) but Amazon does have it too.

ENJOY!

Rube Goldberg has a machine contest each year. For 2007, the challenge will be:

Take a whole orange, juice it, and pour the juice from a pitcher into a cup. The machine must be no larger than 5 feet x 6 feet x 5 feet and must have a minimum of 20 steps.

It sounds like so much fun! We love making Rube Goldberg Machines whenever we study simple machines. This year it was a brief overview involving an Egyptian Shaduf. But ever since I keep finding line strung through trees binding boat hooks and buckets and such into elaborate somethings. All are nicely tied with bowlines, or half hitches, or reefs (usually slipped) and end in figure eight stopper knots.
