Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know where I can find some?
A priest that we can change colors on for the period in the year...
Marian figures?
Mass items?

Does anyone know where I can find these or (gulp) how I can make some really nice ones?

I won't go into details, but doing a search on priest/catholic felts does NOT being up anything usefull or appropriate.

thank you!

Oh, dear!

Near to Christmas I was able to find some felt boards that included the Nativity scene, the Magi, and Noah's Ark. They were only about $5 apiece at a store here in Canada called "The Bargain Shop". I think the company that made them is called Felt Creations. I don't know exactly about finding a Priest but I might just substitute the figure for Joseph or Noah and make some garments and Mass items myself!

Hope that helps!

I do not know a source for these, but, if I were you, I would consider adhering Catholic images directly on the felt (I would use Holy Cards, printouts from the computer, old calendar pages--anything I could find). Once they are glued or attached to a felt backing, they may be used on your feltboard.

You might also be able to print the images on to transfer paper and iron them directly on to the felt (more complicated, but perhaps more professional looking). The directions on the transfer paper would probably note if it works on felt.

Finally, you could enlist the help of your children to make simple figures and images out of felt shapes and glue. This would be an easy and fun project. If I hand my children materials and tell them I need something specific (say, a felt Nativity scene), they usually manage to surprise me with a lovely creation with very little input or work on my part.

Oh thanks! The glue or transfer idea is a good start for me! I'll also do a net search for felt creations.

I'd like to set my felt board behind our home alter table (a cloth covered tv stand) and have them take turns dressing the priest and presenting the "alter" on the board each day. The table is holding things like a candle and a little plastic Our Lady of Grace, plus whatever saint books and such relate to the current calendar (a rosary book and book of angels for example)

I wonder if plastic holy cards can be made to adher to the felt? Or would they be too heavy even if they did? ...
thanks for the tips ladies!

add a little peice of sticky back velcro to laminated pics you like to use on your felt board.

ask your church or interlibarary loan to borrow January 2001 magazine issue of the Catechist. it has a paperdoll priest, bishop and alterserver with vestements you could color in and laminate to use with velcro.

also i think little flowers family apostolate might have a priest paperdoll.

you can also get pope jp2 and st nicholas paperdolls at amazon borders etc. that could be used.

I also got a lot of innapropriate links when trying to find priest paperdoll last year.

If you can find it the Catechist article is great though it does have and "altar girl" too if that bothers you. jsut dont use it.

i love the idea of using the priest to show the litugucal changes! Thanks for passing it on!

There was a lady named Michele from Colorado at our conference 2 years ago who was selling Catholic felt patterns. Maybe Kim F or MaryM can pipe in here?

Ed: I just took out the author's full name and city since she doesn't seem to have a public website or catalog.

You can also buy felt with adhesive on one side. The adhesive is VERY strong. It will hold well to the holdy cards...that said, when I used it to stick to laminated story card images, the pieces seemed to fall easily off our felt board. (It should be noted our felt board is a handmade one - and the pieces were fine until little - 9 or 12 month old - hands "helped" with them).

I love your ideas though and think I may try something similar with my kiddos.
