Now I'm a week late. Tomorrow, I have an early appointment with the midwife to discuss options. My husband has taken off the last two weekends (no travel), but next weekend he's supposed to be gone and Michael and Patrick are going to be gone too. I've been more than three centimeters for more than three weeks. Still, no real labor. I want to have a VBAC and I'm really nervous about taking things into our hands and rupturing membranes, lest that stall out and a c-section become necessary. I'm also really, really upset about the prospect of dh leaving hours after we arrive home or--even worse--somehow not being there for the birth. Ditto for my kids being gone. I so don't want to have to make decisions!. Would you please pray that God intervenes and I go into labor on my own before tomorrow morning? And then, if I don't, please pray for wisdom for all.

Praying for your intentions and asking St. Thérèse for her help, as well.

Darn. I was up a lot with various kids and I thought maybe it was because you were in labor so I kept praying for you all night.
I know they're never wasted though.
I'll keep praying. I'm sure it will all work out.

Dear Elizabeth,
Take heart on this Feast of St Therese.
You have been in my prayers daily, especially this past week as I prayed a novena to St Therese. I promised to storm heaven for you intentions during meditation and evening prayers this afternoon at our Carmelite meeting. I'll also ask our dear Carmelite sisters and brothers to pray for you.
Let us all ask St Therese to intercede for Elizabeth with these prayers.
Miraculous Invocation to St. Therese
O Glorious St. Thérèse, whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and inspire the human family, I implore your Miraculous Intercession. You are so powerful in obtaining every need of body and spirit from the Heart of God. Holy Mother Church proclaims you “Prodigy of Miracles… the Greatest Saint of Modern Times”. Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition (mention here) and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven doing good upon earth… of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Little Flower, give me you childlike faith, to see the Face of God in people and experiences of my life, and to love God with full confidence. St. Thérèse, my Carmelite Sister, I will fulfill your plea “to be made known everywhere” and I will continue to lead others to Jesus through you.
Amen
St Thérèse's Rose Prayer
O LittleThérèse of the Child Jesus,
please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens
and send it to me as a message of love.
O Little Flower of Jesus,
ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence in you hands …..
(Mention specific requests)
St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as you did,
in God’s great love for me,
so that I might imitate you “Little Way” each day.
Amen
Here is today morning hymn from the Liturgy of the Hours
From your bright place in heaven,
Thérése, where you now reign,
Let fall a shower of roses,
Do not our prayer disdain.
Fair roses tinged with glory:
Faith's light, hope's glad desire,
Love's flame, so strong yet tender,
To set our hearts afire.
Send too the rose of childhood,
That trusting openness
Which finds in every moment
Our Father's will to bless.
We honor you, O Jesus,
Revealed to little ones,
With Father and blest Spirit
While course of ages runs.
If anyone wants to join us today in this universal prayer, you can find the full text here.
Blessings,
Louise

I'm with Louise on this one -- Elizabeth, turn it over to St. Therese. Remember when you first found out you were pregnant, didn't you mention that she had showered you with Roses around that time?
I will offer my day for you and your family -- all will be well.
Blessings and keep us posted!

Dear Elizabeth,
I know just how you feel! My Kateri Therese was due on Easter, and though I'd been early six times, Easter came and went...and I had an appt. Tuesday morning, and 'options' to be discussed, and my dh had already taken days off waiting, and what if only the male MD was on call, and how would we get to the hospital in time (I had my fifth in the van), and wouldn't it be so perfect to have a baby on this day or that day... and...and...and...
And I just kept trying to focus on 'Jesus, I trust in You'. I told everyone God was trying to teach me patience and it was taking me a very long time to learn. It is so natural for me to try to plan it all out,or at least imagine all the possibilities and to give God my wonderful suggestions for Him to consider.
In the end, I woke up at 2am Tuesday am and it was like the movies - one whopper contraction and I knew it was IT...and the male MD was on call, but the midwife came in at 3am on her night off to deliver for me (!), and it was so perfectly wonderful. All of these wonderful ladies are holding you up in prayer and love. Savor this precious time - soon and very soon you will know what's He's been planning!
Still praying for you...
