This time of year, I always ask the Archangels and our LIttle Flower St Therese to intercede for the family of the child who donated his liver for Aidan, and for the child himself, though I am rather confident he is with the angels himself, now.
That gift literally meant life for Aidan since Aidan was in very grave condition by the time we got the news (which was today 7 years ago). Aidan's transplant started the evening of September 30th and was completed on October 1, St Therese's feast day. Aidan coded just minutes before the transplant was to start; they restarted his heart; and they decided to go ahead anyway, since there was no alternative.
I always think of that child and his parents as models of heroic generosity. We do not know specifically who they were because of donor privacy. But he was about the age Aidan is now; he had told his parents earlier that if anything happened to him, he wanted to donate his organs to help someone else, and they complied with his wishes. Makes me cry when I think of it  I ask his intercession for my children and especially for Aidan and Patrick.

Praying, praying, praying--and remembering the awesome wonder of it all. I remember the vigil we held for Aidan all through the surgery and I remember the tears we shed for the donor's family. This really is a very holy week, isn't it?

How beautiful...I will pray for Aidan's "angel" and his family today...isn't it wonderful that we can know that God hears our prayers for the people we are praying for, even when we don't know exactly who they are? He is so good...
