Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have you ever been on one? Though I've lived in New England all my life I've never been on one (I know, that's shameful! ) - but my dh went one one yesterday and he just put up a post at my blog with some neat pictures and a short movie clip!

Just thought I'd mention it in case there are any whale enthusiasts here. We're making plans to take the boys out early next month, before it gets too cold - for us *and* the whales!

That looks incredible! What a treat for dh!
When we went to Alaska we went out on a boat and were lucky enough to see several whales, swimming, breaching, slapping their flukes. In fact, a family of humpbacks swam right under our boat. It was a sight that the dc and I will never forget. Definitely a highlight of the Alaska summer trip (though there were so many!).

How incredibly cool! My dss have been very into whales after we read Shipwrecked! The true adventures of a Japanese boy during our Japan unit.
If we ever get to the New England coast, near you Dawn, we'll have to go on a whale watch, and take you with us!
Thanks for sharing this!

God Bless,

How exciting, Dawn! Marianna and I saw Dolphins in the Basin the other day. So cool.

My little sister (a high school Senior this year) interns at a Whale Institute in Kihei, Maui. She just got to go out on a tiny fast boat (14') and tag whales the other day. I guess you have a suction cup tag loaded on a long pole and you race up and jab the whale with it. The whale then dives and info is gathered for three hours when the suction cups wear out and the tags float to the surface for retrieval. She was awfully excited Whalesong You're going to have such a good time!

I grew up on Cape Cod and had never been on one until this summer. The kids and I went while we were visiting my parents and had such a terrific time! They had a lot of whales in the area this summer and we saw bunches of them up close. It was so exciting!    We can't wait to take my dh on one next summer. (He is in Iraq this year.) He also grew up near me on the Cape and has never gone on a whale watch.
