Dh started at a new job this week. Today came the inevitable question, "Do you have children, and 'how many?" Dh answers, "Seven". Jaws drop and dead silence. One brave woman ventures, "So your wife doesn't work then!" Dh my hero! says "She certainly does work, and works very hard. You need to be careful how you phrase that." The point was made
We live in a society that does not not value what we are doing, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world". Society places more value on paper shuffling than on nation building. I could be raising the next Pope! Another Mother Theresa, strong men and women for Christendom is my aim, children who will strive to reach Heaven and take others with them on the journey.
Well I'll just get off my soapbox. Just sharing with you all.

Erin,
I have just been thinking a lot on the importance of our work as mothers lately. Some days, the work doesn't feel important, just hard, but it IS important, even and especially when we are "cloistered" in our homes with young children!
Whenever anyone asks me if I work, I always say, "Yes, I do, every day!"
Blessings to you and your dh!
Dawn

Erin, that's just wonderful. My husband has a co-worker who continually razzes him about how I do "nothing" during the day, how Chris needs to get me back out there and working. Chris constantly tells Donnie that there is no way that Donnie could do my job and that I work harder than they both do every day of the week! It's so good to have the support of your hubby.

Erin I am so glad you shared this. I had a similar experience at a BBQ when someone asked us how many children we had and I told them, she said very snottily that she guessed I didn't work. She made it seem like I laid around all day. My husband quickly said, "she works harder than anyone I know". It was so wonderful to have him leap to my defense like that.
A good husband = lifetime of happiness.

Make sure you save this somewhere for your kids to read one day. What an awesome role model!
And maybe copy it so you can re-write it in his next father's day or anniversary card under the heading: Best Things My Most Wonderful Husband Has Ever Done For Me...
