Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have to put our 13 yr. old golden retriever to sleep on Sat. He has had a stroke and is not eating and can hardly walk. The vet says it's time, he's in too much pain. My boys are quite upset and my daughter has gotten so attached to this dog and she's only one.

Please pray for my children, as they don't quite understand why this is happening.

Thanks ladies.

God Bless,
Angela

I will keep you all in my prayers. It is amazing how our pets do become part of the family.

Praying for them, Angela. We just had to put one of our dear cats to sleep, and it was very hard on the children. But, it's gotten much easier...

We are and will be praying. Could you make a little stepping stone for the garden or buy a statue of St. Francis for your home? I was just trying to come up with something tangible for you.

My dh lost a dog in a fire when he was 12~he was very shaken by the experience so I know he will be offering he day on Sat. for your family.

God bless,

Marybeth

It is always hard to lose a pet. I will definitely pray for all of you.

You might let the boys help bury him and have a "funeral" service. I wouldn't push it but maybe see if it is something they might like to do to say good-bye.

Another thing you can do is take pictures of the kids with him in the next few days and frame them for their rooms. The kids could even make the frames if you're all up to it. If the dog isn't well enough to deal with having new pictures taken, maybe you can find some older pictures and blow them up for framing.

I am sure you will get lots of other helpful ideas and support from the other here too.

Blessings,
Krisann

Angela, I am so very sorry about your dog. We just put our cat to sleep two weeks ago. It was terribly hard.

We'll be praying for your whole family, but especially your children.

I am so sorry...

We lost 2 older beloved dogs in two months and it was very hard. I would take pictures and save a little fur. I would also get one of those plaster footprint kits and make that. This might seem kind of silly, but my daughter once taped one of our pets on one of those little recorder devices that you can add to a Build-a-Bear toy. She added that and the fur while they were stuffing it at the store. She now carries it around and listens to it. It is one of her favorite toys.

I'll be praying for you.
