My friend "Tas" was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. She had part of her colon removed and went through radiation and chemo which ended last February. She's just learned that the cancer has come back. The doctor believes that there is a cancerous tumour on one of her fallopian tubes. We don't know what's happening next for sure but there will likely be further chemo and radiation after surgery and a probable hysterectomy. She'd had some eggs frozen when she was first diagnosed last year so I'm sure she's upset about this. She is still single and childless.
I wasn't as worried last time as I am now. There are several doctors in her family and she has an excellent support system at home. But, now I am scared for her. She's lost a lot of weight and I'm not sure how hard it will be to handle chemo and radiation again so soon.
Also, while Tas is very clean living, she's what you might call a "nominal Muslim" in the same way that you might think of "nominal Catholics". I worry that her faith may be sorely tested now.
As I live over 2000 miles away, I'm planning on sending her a lot of encouraging postcards and notes (she's not online a lot and has no email access.) If you have any funny stories to share or encouraging words, please PM me so that I may pass them on. Thanks.

I'm praying for Tas, Taffy. I'm sure she appreciates your friendship and, knowing it or not, experiences Christ's love through you.
Love,

You are very sweet, Taffy. I will pray for her, and for you, to provide her with the spiritual support she needs.

Thanks everyone! I'll be trying to phone her this week - maybe they'll discover this tumor is benign? I'm sure she'll be comforted to know there are people praying for her...

I just heard from my friend Tas today. Her chemo and radiation have now passed by and she just got the results from her colonoscopy - tumour free!
She has more scans to check for the tumors on her fallopian tube and ovary on Wednesday and surgery for their removal is tentatively scheduled for January 25. We're hoping that the scans will be "clean" and that her surgery will be minimal.
Thanks for the prayers!

Could you all please remember my friend Tas (Tasleem) in prayer tomorrow. She has gone through radiation and chemo and will be having surgery tomorrow to try and remove the rest of the cancer. She will definitely be losing an ovary, possibly both and possibly her uterus as well. She will also be having part of her large intestine removed and possibly part of her tailbone. She's worried and a bit depressed. At the age of 34 she is experiencing menopause and the fact that she will be wearing a colostomy bag for at least 6 months - probably permanently. She may even lose part of her bladder. She's still single and sad that her odds for a family in her future are dwindling.
Please pray that the surgery will not have to be as drastic as she's been prepared for and that the cancer is gone for good. And if you could offer up a prayer for her mental health too, that would be great. I can't imagine facing what she is...
Thanks. I will hopefully be able to update by Wednesday.
