Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My sister just told me that it's this Sunday. My brother, who moved to Tennessee this year used to have my Mom and her dh and the rest of the family over his house every Grandparent's Day for some brunch or lunch. We would bring cards, I think.

So my sister wondered if I was going to be doing anything for the grandparents. (I didn't even remember the day at all.) She's not up for a party this year and anyway, Saturday night my dc are I supposed to be camping in my Mom's camper in her yard. (It's this weekend because we already canceled it twice because of rain.)

Do you do anything special for this day? I don't really want to buy anything. Do you have any ideas of gifts to make that would be appropriate for grandparents? What are your thoughts on this kind of holiday?

My thoughts? I didn't think anyone celebrated this day...just another Hallmark created holiday, but hasn't really taken on.

To me, Mother's and Father's Days covers the grandparents. I also view the Feast of St. Ann and Joachim as the Catholic grandparents day.

I'd just have the kids make a special card or craft to show their love for their grandparents. No money involved!

I concur with Jenn.

I think a homemade card or craft would be wonderful.
