September always means new shoes around here and this year for me too!
I am seriously thinking about buying these clogs from LL Bean but since I can't try them on first, I thought I'd ask here. Has anyone worn these?
Comfortable? Supportive? Horrible?
Thanks for any advice.

I have the Dansko version of these clogs and I love them. I have had a black and brown pair for three years and wear them daily. They are nice and wide for my bunions and they look nice with long skirts.
So, my post doesn't really answer you question, but it might give you another option if you like this style!

Dawn,
Love 'em! I wore my last pair every day during the "shoe season" for four years and plan to order new ones this year.

I see they 've gone to Euro sizes now. I'm a 6 1/2 in US sizes, a 37 in Dansko and LLBean says that I'd be a 39. Hmmmm...that's when it gets tricky to order shoes you can't try on.

Dawn -
They look like the Dansko Professionals, but the price seems a lot less than Dansko charges. I think I would check with LL Bean to find out if they are look alikes or the real thing.
If they are the Dansko ones, they are extremely comfortable and, to my casual style, work well both as everyday and dress shoes. They make you stand with correct posture. In the long run this is wonderful for your back, but until you break them in (maybe for a week or so) they can make your legs and feet feel very tired.
Let us know what you decide, and if you get them, how you like them.
Peace,
Nancy

I could never recommend anything but Dansko. They are the Bentley of clogs, seriously. I love my Danskos, they are seriously worth every penny if you can possibly afford it. The comfort, the support, the nice style ... I wait on edge all summer until the day I can once again wear them -- and that day was yesterday, courtesy of Ernesto. Yay for clogs. Anyway, I'd have to see the LL Bean ones in person to say for sure, but in general, I believe you get what you pay for and there is a good reason Danskos cost $100. The bright side is they will last for years of daily use. If you can swing it, go for the best.

Hmmm ... I will have to check out the Danskos ...
The thing about the LL Bean clogs - we have a bunch of coupons saved up to put toward Bean purchases (we use an LL Bean visa card). I usually buy the boys clothing, but when I looked at these clogs I considered buying them for myself. I can see that they would look nice with slacks or a long skirt.
Maybe I should just get myself over to the mall after all. They have a Walking Store there and probably sell Danskos. That way I could try them on too. Are these the ones you mean?
Elizabeth, have you worn both Dansko and Bean's clogs? If so could you compare?

Those are the ones. I have them in Cordovan leather, a nice dark burgundy-brown that keeps looking better with time and wear.

I haven't worn the Dansko ones, though I was tempted to buy some last spring and I did get sized for them so that I could order or send someone shopping without my going this fall. I will say that I liked the LLBean ones MUCH better than my Birkenstocks. Sorry, that doesn't really answer your question. We have an LLbean card, so shipping is free and there is a local store, so if they don't fit me, Michael can return them for me. So, I'll probably start with the Bean ones and if they aren't perfect, return them for Dansko. I buy one or two pairs of clogs every few years and that's pretty much all I wear. I'm not a shoe person. My feet tend to hurt so I find something that I like that goes with mostly everything and that's that. I bought my one pair of really good walking sandals last spring. The dog chewed the strap. I'm still wearing them .

Loved mine! I need a new pair...I wore mine until they looked so beat up it was embrassing. I think my friends are so happy in the summer to see something else on my feet.
Thanks for the reminder that I should order a pair before the cooler weather.

Thanks to this thread I went ahead and purchased a pair of the LL Bean clogs - LOVE THEM!!!! I told my husband tonight that I don't even want to take them off. I let one of my neighbors put them on and her eyes just lit up - she said it felt like she was barefoot.
BTW - I normally wear a size 8 and have a pair of Birkenstocks that are 38, so that's what I originially ordered. They were way too small. When I called customer service, they said that a size 8 should wear a 40 - they fit great.

Do these stay on the back of your foot or are they meant to "flop" off?
Thx!

They are meant to flop off--both the LLBean and the Dansko.

I ordered the LLBean in both a 38 and a 39--neither fit. Off to get the Dansko.

Oh, I just got the Danskos- I was surprised at how much heavier they felt compared to the LL Bean ones but it hasn't been an issue. I must have tried on about 6 pairs before i finally ordered a 40 Narrow online (Zappos.com-great place!!) and that worked out perfectly.
REI is having a sale right now for $79.99 but the sale has been going for a few weeks so they might only have weird colors/sizes. But, it might be worth calling the store at Fairfax Corner to see if they have what you're looking for.

I tried them on in the summer and thought I was all set. So, I sent Michael to Tysons to return four different pairs of LLBean clogs and pick up the Danskos in 37s. The left one fits but the right one is too small and they are heavy . So, now I've ordered the LLBean ones with the open back...what a saga! And I truly have no shoes to wear to Mass. I guess one foot grew during this pregnancy.

Elizabeth, I went to Dulles Town Center a few weeks ago and The Walking Company was still there. That's a little closer to your house to be able to try on shoes.
Naot Clogs are really comfortable. There's also a trick if you have a removable cork bed to make clogs stay on is to add a padded insert inside the shoe and return the cork bed on top. I have narrow feet and this helps keep the clogs on.

I noticed that Jenn. They are in a new location. I may have to actually go to a mall...I need new bras too and I don't think Michael will be so willing to take back my mistakes .

Lol! Yeah, i guess there's a limit to what they'll do for us. Shoe shopping is just as bad swimsuit shopping to me!
Yeah, I kept finding that, too about the Danskos. One side would fit perfectly but then the other shoe would be too big. I guess that's what happens when they're handmade- I still need to wear thick socks with them but it sure is nice not having to tie shoes for a change! And I know that will come in handy later in the pregnancy. Good luck with your shoe saga! I hope you find something!

I am having trouble finding comfortable shoes too. I braved Tysons Mall on a Saturday - the LLBean All Day comfort clogs only start at a 38 - and my foot is only 6.5, so they were too big. I did find another clog at LLBean that I am considering - it was like walking on an air bed - the BORN. It is $89 and I feel guilty spending that much on a shoe - maybe will justify it for Christmas. It really the most comfortable shoe I have ever tried. It is an open back (I think they do a closed back too) - and not as smart looking as the Comfort clog. I am going to check out the Walking Store at Dulles before I make up my mind.
