We're studying glaciers as a side to another study and was wondering if anyone recommends a book on glaciers. I would love one for the younger set ie. picture book, but one for older guys 12 and up would be very helpful.
Thanks!

It's not a book on glaciers per se, but in its first few chapters, Seabird describes the glaciers and conditions of the Arctic.
And I just saw Glaciers: Nature's Icy Caps at Amazon, but I've never seen it in person.
HTH!

We're reading "Paddle to the Sea" right now and loving it. I think the author also wrote Seabird, it looks like the same artist. I don't have that one, but thanks for the info on the first few chapters. I'll find a copy.
Maria,
What ages would enjoy Endurance?

Hi Maddie,
My guess would be about 10 and up...
We have it here at the house and checked it out from the library. Not only will it have reference to glaciers but it's also great study of leadership, determination and perseverance.

Have you thought about poetry and glaciers?
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner has a little bit on them...
Just saw it yesterday and thought of you.

Thanks again, Maria. We got a bit off track due to some health issues, but we're hopefully getting back on track Tuesday.
It may take me a week to get through that poem!

Oh but the book is incredible too--I stayed up all night several years ago reading it! :)
We read a book by Seymour Simon, "Iceburgs and Glaciers" that had awesome photos and detailed explanations. It was a bit much for the then-5 yr old but great for my older (and me!).
