I have been pouring over Macbeths science page and amazingly our library actually has some of these titles

For those who use these books to form the basis of your science approach, in what way do you use them? Do you get dc to take notes, or just discuss or some other way?

At this point we've simply just enjoyed the books and left it at that.

My oldest is 10 though, so maybe an older child would be expected to do more.

I'm amazed at what they retain from just reading and relaxing and enjoying the books.

In my experience (although limited since my kids are still young) the more you require, the less fun it is for them and the less they seem to want to learn. I still require things in my house, however, but just not for science. . . (at this point) Do I make any sense? I better finish this coffee here.

We use alot of them for read-alouds and reference books for nature study. They are fun!

We use them for read alouds and read alones. We also do some of the activities/experiments that MacBeth suggests or that are suggested in the book titles she recommends. Her site is so well organized that it is easy to pick a theme and go with it.
