I went for my regular monthly OB check today and mentioned to the doctor that I have had myself on a sort of self-inflicted modified bed rest the past two weeks or so because every time I go somewhere, I begin to contract. And the contractions feel like real ones, with back tightening and pain and all. She did an internal exam and found that I am already 2 cm dilated. I am only 33 weeks along.
So now she has put me on bedrest for real. Thankfully, my big girls are old enough that the inconvenience of the bedrest shouldn't be much of a problem for us. And I am assuming the bedrest will be lifted by 36 weeks or so, when our out of the house activities for the new school year will be starting up.
Would you all please keep me and the baby in your prayers? My 3yo was born at such a low birthweight that I am nervous about an early delivery for this baby. She was also born in such a short period of time that I am a bit worried about knowing when it is the real thing and making it to the hospital on time. I am scheduling a sonogram to check the baby's size. Judging from the kicks I have been receiving (and the internal pain they are causing!), I am hopeful that this baby is a healthy size.
We have a camping trip with three other families planned for this weekend. Now dh will be taking the girls on his own. (What a great dad I married!  ) It's hard not to worry about all the details when I'm not going to be there, though. And I'd certainly hate to go into labor while they are away. Thankfully, they will only be about an hour and a half away. It looks like I will spend the weekend with my parents, so I won't be alone if labor should start.

Keeping you and the baby in my prayers, Irene, and also your awesome dh and the girls while they are camping! I hope that you are able to relax and make the most of your bedrest---there is much activity that awaits you in the coming months. Don't you wish we could store up sleep for those newborn baby days?
Missing our friends in northern Va right now...wish I could come over and bring you a meal or two.
