Last month I asked for prayers for Joe's mom. She's still hanging on, but is now in cascading organ failure. Joe is just stuck waiting for the dreaded phone call. (He's been out several times to visit her recently.) Please pray for Joe and his mom.
John, husband of a Naval officer friend, is in the hospital with fluid around his heart. Please pray for him.
My godbaby Maggie started her fourth (and last) chemo course last night. Her AFP levels are elevated...this is not so good, as AFP is a tumor marker for her kind of cancer. Please pray that the chemo course goes well and that this week's blood tests are more normal.
I have been away for the past week, so I haven't replied to all the prayer requests...please know that I keep all your intentions in my daily prayers.
UPDATE 8/29:
Joe's mom passed away August 16; her funeral was last week. Please pray for the repose of her soul and for Joe's dad; they were married for almost 50 years.

Another update...
Maggie's AFP levels are good (thank you for praying!!), but now her central line - the tube implanted in her abdomen for chemo - is clogged and no one knows why. This could require surgery if the doctors can't figure out the problem. They're doing a chest x-ray and mega-clot-busting drugs tonight, hoping they'll find out the cause of the problem.
Meanwhile, Maggie's last chemo treatment is on hold, of course.
Please continue praying for Maggie...it's so obvious that God is listening to you!!!!

Another update...
Maggie will have surgery some time this week to replace her central line. She can't have chemo until this is done and until her blood counts are more normal (the last test showed she was neutropenic). We went to Mass with Maggie and her parents today and we all prayed very, very hard.
