Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

If you had a credit at audible.com, your iPod ready and a week long trip at the beach starting on Sunday, what would you download and bring for walks on the beach? For mom.....fiction or non-fiction. I'm just fresh out of ideas and with school planning and continuing pregnancy yucks , short of energy for digging...

Thanks,
Kathleen

I have a few ideas.

Anything by CS Lewis. The Space Trilogy is there, as are some of his non-fiction works, including The Four Loves, read by the author! Surprised by Joy is so good, too.

The Song of Bernadette

I think The Everlasing Man by Chesterton is there, too.

Of course, there's plenty by Jane Austen, Dickens, and Dante.

Jane Eyre and Les Miserables have been favorites (and you can save them for when the kids are older).

I'm no help because I love "children's" books like Little Lord Fauntlroy and Anne of Green Gables!

We liked
Newberry: The Life and Times of a Maine Clam by
Vincent Dethier. It was a little scratchy but the kids enjoyed the book. (It's a little short)
We've gotten many of the Jules Verne books and The Red Badge of Courage.
The Dr Dolittle books are there as well.
What about Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang?
I really liked the Story of Classical Music by Darren Henley (recommended by someone on the CCM list)
I think there are a couple of Henty books as well.

Lately, when I've checked for a book at Audible, they haven't had what I was looking for. I would also like some new ideas.
