I've recently been thinking of going to a Chiropractor for my back. I've suffered with back-pain, to the point of being immobile at times, for about 10 years. Bringing home our daughter next month (hopefully

) has me concerned about lifting and carrying her.

I know some of you on this board see one as well and am looking for advice. Tell me your experiences, please. Did it help you? What are the long-term effects? What exactly do they do?

We travel apprx. 4 hrs to our chiropractor because their technique is superior compared to others we have been to over the years. many chiropractors use different methods and some develop methods. Ours balances the meninges and we feel and have experienced great health improvements from allergies, OCD issues, back pain, carpal tunnel, shoulder dislocating problems, overall stronger immunities for the family.

We go to Life Expression Chiropractic Wellness Center I like their explanation of chiropractic care.

I think there are probably legitimate chiropractors; but, I also think at least one chiropractor is a quack. I had a couple visits with him, not expecting his work to be questionable -- expecting the best, open to alternative medicine -- and his approach seemed to make no sense (i.e., treat patient before knowing what, if anything, maybe wrong with patient; treat patient before developing a treatment plan). I didn't go back to him.

Don't be afraid; but be discerning if something isn't quite right.

Before I got married, I was rear-ended and it sure hurt!

I went for treatment with a wonderful chiropractor and really felt much better.

I think you could always interview different docs and find out what their philosphies are...that might help narrow down the search.
