Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi, everybody. I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I remembered this recipe from when my older kids were small and was resurrecting it for my younger ones after I read Elizabeth's preschool blog entries and thought some of you might like it. And thought it related a little to the handiwork thread.
It makes a lot of very nice play-do like clay. It smells really good (but tastes AWFULLY salty! LOL) and my children loved it. We made it when our older kids were in public school kindergarten and it was a huge hit with the teacher and the other children. Very easy to make, nice to use and stays usable when tightly wrapped. Only caveat, we have never successfully made this with grape kool-aid.
2 packages unsweetened kool-aid
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup salt
2 1/2 cups flour
2 cups boiling water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Mix dry ingredients together. Add water, oil, mix thoroughly. Let cool. If the dough is too sticky, gradually add more flour.

My daughter's poem for this clay from when she was five:

It's fun to play with kool-aid clay.
You can smash it, mold it, beat it.
It looks so nice and smells so sweet,
but please don't make me eat it!

Blessings!

We love Kool-aid playdough. It's the best home-made recipe I've found!
