Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So, all the talk about planners has got me thinking...

Does anyone successfully use an electronic planner? I have a PalmPilot and the corresponding desktop software...but my computer is not accessible enough to manage the whole family's schedule. No one looks at my computer calendar but me.

We're considering getting a small laptop to sit permanently on our telephone table, and eliminating our paper calendar (its actually a hideous, confusing, white-board creation). All our contacts, schedules, calendars, to-lists would be kept on the laptop using the PalmPilot software, and then I could uplink it to my Palm and even to my own computer.

It sounds good in theory...but not nearly as pretty as the MomAgenda!    For those of you with electronic planners, how do you make them work for you??

Shawna,

I use my Palm Pilot for my to do lists, scheduling, Christmas shopping and sending off reminders like actually running the dishwasher. I get sidetracked too easily.

I HotSync the PDA so that the reminders also go off when I turn on the computer. That way, if I do get on the pc and my work is not done, I have this list staring me in the face. I surely can't say that I forgot to do something when I made the conscious effort to ignore it.

I don't know if your PDA has this feature (Documents to Go) but I can download documents from Word and Adobe onto my PDA. I've downloaded my library book lists, poetry, my lesson plans and ebooks onto my PDA. I carry my PDA everywhere so it's been helpful. Another thing I have downloaded is Catholic News Agency and Mobile Gabriel from AvantGo. It will automatically refresh the content when you HotSync.

I am not totally paperless. I do keep a Household Notebook. It has all the things that I would need in an emergency: address book, insurance information, where things are located in the kitchen, etc. I also keep a binder of our school schedule and plans. It is nice to know that I can just pull out the information if my mom had to take over unexpectedly. Or if we had to evacuate unexpectedly and had no electricity to recharge the PDA batteries, I would at least have everything in paper form.

Oh, did you know that you can change the colors on your PDA screen? I like to change them according to seasons.

HTH,

Mare
