Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What are they up to while your on the computer?

I just looked out the window and my 2 1/2 year old was riding his bike down by the road, completely naked.

Now, as cute as his sturdy, little naked body is, I'm sure it's not appropiate or modest to let him run around that way.

My older children do not think it's cute at all, and are offended by it. They brought him right in. He swaggered into the kitchen, swinging his arms and said, "Hot, Mama, need ice cuges."

My oldest shook his head and said, "Mom, you really need to raise him better."

Ok, Ok, I'm getting off the computer to raise him.

My 5yo is here asking me questions. You know, the type of questions you can never awswer, " Can you eat ants?" "Can I run faster than a fly?" "Are there ANY shoes smaller than my little finger?"

Then, he won't accept my answer, "No, honey."
"There's Not?"
"Well, maybe yes."
"You CAN? Are you sure?"
"I don't know, honey. I don't know if you can run faster than a fly. I bet you can."
"See, Mom. Is this faster than a fly?" . . .

The two yr old sleeps!! He desperately needed a nap. He keeps me hopping...especially when my big dc are away, like today. My other lil boys are playing out back with two cousins. The cousins are trying to figure out how to climb up on our dad's new hammock

Mine are all out in the backyard trying to figure out how to put up the tent. If they succeed, we sleep outside tonight. If they don't, we sleep in the basement. Is it a bad mommy thing to hope your child fails ?

Youngest is napping, oldest is draped across a chair and engrossed in Mariel of Redwall, and middle is playing with brand new water guns.

Cute thread!

My 18yo and 13yo are having a literary discussion, my 10yo is listening. My 20yo son is in his room working on computer programming for his dad. My 16yo daughter is vacuuming downstairs, and uh, the fantasy homeschool sequence breaks down there because the 3yo and 6yo are playing a Mario Party game in another room (and one of them's starting to scream at the other) and my teens just concluded the book discussion and turned on a Nintendo game. Now the daughter's playing the piano and the 7yo's showing me his finger that got "twisted".   Life is never the same from moment to moment around here.

My olders don't think I'm raising the little one quite right, either, Bridget. Funny I'm a different person now than I was when they were little, I'm sure. I better get off the computer now because one of Aidan's disability case managers is coming over this afternoon for an annual Individualized Family Plan meeting which is why we've been cleaning the house this morning.

My youngest is lying on the floor next to me playing with all the wooden baby toys I brought up and washed today from basement storage My middle two are playing in a baby pool with a snow tube. They are charging each other $.25 for a boat ride on the snowtube (with the same quarter) . They also take turns blowing a whistle (quite loudly) and yelling "REST PERIOD! EVERYBODY OUT!" to each other. My oldest is spending the day with my mil, doing chores at her summer cottage, trimming bushes, planting flowers, painting the fence, etc.

We just got back from swimming all day and my oldest is sprawled out on the floor behind me trying to muster the energy to shower. My third daughter is getting ready to shower and Joseph and Juliana were on the back porch with a can of Pringles and chalk pastels. Does that count as still life if they use Pringles?

I'm sleeping in a tent tonight. The air matresses keep deflating. Someone please offer an earnest prayer that I get some sleep. I want to be a nice mommy....

Oh my, Elizabeth! You're a much better mother than I! If you're the only parent around, you need that sleep! I'd tell the kids while you would stay in the tent, the baby needs Mommy to sleep in a bed.

6 yo ds is in the tub early because he is overtired and couldn't play pickup sticks nicely with 10 yo ds. 10 yo is entertaining baby dd while baby whines as she too is overtired. 20 yo ds is at work, 16 yo dd is at Pirates of the Caribbean (aye she's a lucky matey). 14 yo ds is waiting for other dc to disappear so he can catch up on Pride and Prejudice episodes (no, that's not his first choice especially with dd at the movies!) before I take them back to the library.

My dc are still rolling their eyes and laughing at how baby dd cried for sunglasses in the store and--get this--I bought them! This is now my "I know I'm getting old because..." story.

Thanks for the laugh Bridget! I could barely get the story out to my husband with the tears rolling down my face! My older dc frequently tell me that I need to do a better job with the little ones .

It's amazing what you can do the day after a funeral.

They wanted me with them so much and I was just so grateful to be there. I'm hoping to get a friend to take them to the movies this afternoon and get a nap for myself.

I just saw the time stamp on your post! You are getting no sleep at all. Pregnant Mommy in a tent! You are a crazy woman! A lovely, precious, crazy woman.

Yep. It's probably no comfort to Nicole's husband, but hs'ing moms around the world are smiling at, hugging and loving their kids better because of her .
