Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's official, I'm in Dress Distress. All help welcome!

The Change of Command ceremony is July 20. I have been looking for a dress for months. It has to go with black shoes! I'm looking for the kind of dress you would wear to a morning wedding. I don't want a suit. I won't buy clothes made in China (this eliminates lots of things!). I can only find wispy brown halter top dresses for size 4 gals. (I'm 5'9" and wear size 12.)

The Executive Officer's wife is in the same boat...so to speak...

Thanks in advance!

I have a size 12 dress, black with white polka dots, dropped waist, pleated skirt, sash, short sleeves, round, not-too-low neckline, longish length (not to the floor, but definitely below the knee on 5'8" me). It's a classic, Talbots to be precise. I bought it several years ago to wear to a morning wedding, and it languishes in my closet because it won't go 'round no more. May I send it?

Nancy! I'm sending St. Anthony and my guardian angel your way. They never fail me in my search crises! Have you tried stores like Nordstroms? You need to drive to a place like Tysons II Galleria with a bunch of rich clothing stores.

I found some dresses at Ross Dress For Less. I've never been in there until someone here mentioned the store. Big selection and good prices.
