Could you please pray for Ward (16) who took his life this week? Ward had tried to take his life before, and was receiving medical help. His family had been in our parish since before his birth. I remember when his sister Vickie (14) received her First Holy Communion with ds Raphael. The family had been away from the Church for some years, but the mother came back a year and a half ago. Please keep them in your prayers.

The funeral Mass will be tomorrow and the mother has ask for my dh to be lector. Also two of our sons will be serving. This will be very difficult for all.

Thank you so much everyone! It was indeed very difficult, but I know they felt supported by our prayers.

Before Mass, dh was in the hall waiting, since he was lector, when he witnessed something very sad. A group of teenager boys had just entered the Church when Vickie (Ward's sister) marched decidedly toward them with two of her girlfriends behind her. She exchanged a few words with the boys and pointed firmly to the door. The boys left. Michel (my dh) learned later that one of them had beaten Ward last Monday, two days before Ward committed suicide. It seems that Ward was hanging out with a gang. It is so sad to think how bad company might have affected his life to the point that he ended up taking it

After Mass tonight I was talking to a friend who taught Ward in the third grade at our parish school (we have a PreK-5 school). She said he was just a normal, typical little boy then. We wondered what happened afterward to lead him to such despair?
