She had been ill for a long time and was in hospice. She was 95. But I didn't know she was so near death until my mom called this morning (on my way back from the vet). I'm just a mess. Please pray for her soul and for my mom and dad has they travel to Michigan for her funeral.

My grandmother died at 89, shortly after Pope John Paul II died. She spent most of her life her last 20 years in a rocking chair. We knew it was coming, like you, just didn't know when. When I received the call, we were living in England. There was no time for me to arrange to fly home and be there within the few days leadtime they gave me before the wake and funeral were going to take place. Even when death is expected, it can be quite a shock. I was poker-faced when my sister told me. But when I got off the phone, thankfully, my husband was there with me.
My heart goes out to you. So much is happening that is so hurtful right now. Is your hubby TDY or deployed? If you need someone to talk to, PM me and we'll arrange some long-distance tea time.
