Speaking of fairies, I need an easy gift suggestion for a sweet little girl who has invited me to a "fairy party" this Saturday.  Just me, not the boys! 
She's the daughter of one of my closest homeschooling friends and I am tickled to be going to my very first fairy party! I'd like to bring her a little gift as a thank you. Any ideas?
This is a rare treat for the mum of 3 boys!

Fairy Houses looks like a nice book, although I haven't read it yet. My girls loved the movie Fairy Tale - A True Story. And this Fairy Craft Booklooks like fun. I may have to buy that one.
You don't mention the age of your little friend but if she is still of an age to do dress up I can assure you that you can't have too many pairs of wings. I have bought them in Target and Kmart as well as the local party store. I have spray painted them, hot glued artificial flowers on them and sewed little jingle bells on them. Streaming ribbons are also popular for fairy wings.
The Hallmark store here often carries flower fairy statues and ornaments. The Cicely Mary Barker kind. If you have a store nearby it might be worth a stroll through.

A friend of mine used to make fairy shelters as an award for naturalists who had survived training. Basically, he used a hot glue gun, some twigs and lichen, and glued it all in a house shape to a base of wood. They'd be about 6x6 at the base. Everyone loved them.

Oh, I should have said - Abby's 7.5. This is not a birthday, just a little fairy party she's wanted to have for awhile now. I have the dearest little yellow invitation hanging on my fridge.

The fairy books are wonderful, particularly if you pair it with the means to make a fairy or fairy houses, like Theresa's.
Or even these simple ones Mary Beth made. You could do the Klutz Fairy book or you could just assemble a little kit with craft store supplies.
Um, Dawn, this whole thread screams "Dawn needs a little girl, someone for all those creative, feminine ideas!. Offering a Hail Mary now for just that intention  .

Yes, wouldn't that be nice?
I'm afraid I missed fairies growing up. All this fairy talk is completely over my head. I'm clueless!  And I have 4 sisters. So I think I need a girl to fill in my gaps of education.

I'll second the Klutz fairy book. My dd 4 LOVES this. In fact, just today we made two more: one for Auntie Sue and one for Grandma to take back to Seattle with them. She was even able to get her great-grandfather to help her draw the face on one of the beads! We have sooo much fun with this book.
