My dh's maternal grandfather died Sunday at 1 AM. Frank Pelchar was a wonderful man that mentored my dh and was much loved by his family. He was a blastman in the coal mines of PA who had such a strong work ethic that he NEVER called in sick...except once. That one time he was so sick he couldnt get out of bed and that day was the day that the Susquehanna River flooded the mines. Here is a pic of the Knox mine disaster. God obviously needed him to be here for a reason! You see, the blastmen were the first ones in and the last ones out...he would have died if he had gone to work that day.
Grandpa was in his 80's and Grandma is still living and has alzheimers so things are very confusing for her right now. Please pray for dh's mom who has been carrying this heavy load for quite a long time.
Thank you so much!

Donna, what a wonderful story about your dh's grandfather. I will remember him and your family in our prayers.
Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon. May his soul through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Donna Marie,
Praying for your family during this difficult time, esp. for the repose of your dh's grandfather and for his grandmother, as well. Our Rosary tonight will be for these intentions...

Thanks for sharing the story. I lost my grandfather recently, and while he lived a nice, long life, he is missed dearly. I will definitely pray for Frank and your family.

THANK YOU! all sooo much for all the prayers! It has been a hard few days and thankfully all the services are finished. We drove the 1.5 hour trip last night and EARLY this morning and we are worn out! It was a lovely service and when we came out of the funeral home last night, there was this BIG brilliant rainbow in the sky! I love the things that only God can do!
My twin dds had a living history lesson about the settlement of the Wilkes Barre area. They learned all about the difficulties of the lives of the miners and the hardships of making ends meet.
They learned about what some of these families did for fun and how the children would run down the street after the ice creamery trucks that would dump the left-overs at the dump. They would try to be the first one to pick the best LARGE tub of their favorite flavor and lug it home on a wagon and share it among their family and neighbors. They learned how the families needed to pull together and everyone had a job to do to make family life more manageable. They even talked to their Great Aunt about how her job as a 5yo was to walk the ducks! I KNOW they got a WONDERFUL living history lesson these last few days!
I will remember you all and your intentions in our rosary!! Bless you!!
