I need some prayers...I'm not in dire straits, but I need some help! We just found out we are pregnant with number 2. This is already a miracle in itself...it was very difficult to conceive our son...we had some problems, but having him seems to rectify a lot of areas!
I'm very excited, but I had a high risk pregnancy last time, so we are a bit nervous. One aspect was I had gestational diabetes, but it kicked in almost immediately, not at the 28 week mark like most women...and I'm having the same symptoms. My blood sugar just goes up and down like a roller coaster. It's not the actual highs or lows, but that it fluctates so much that I'm feeling rotten....shaky, etc. I think I need to be on a low-carb diet to keep things in line. Carbs really mess me up!
But that's another area I have to cross...weaning my son so I can add milk, egg and wheat to my diet since he is highly allergic. I don't mind not having milk, but I'm finding alternative sources aren't providing enough protein for me -- soy and legumes don't cut it for me! But to juggle having the foods in the house when he is so allergic, I have some decisions to make! I've got to get organized, figure out a food plan and stick with it!
And...we are still trying to find a house and sell ours. I have to get the house back in shape to go on the market, and I need the energy to do all the work and keep my toddler at bay! And a house needs to open up in the area and price range we need. We started this process in July and have had MANY obstacles...so it's somewhat discouraging.
Thanks for the prayers in advance. I'm really EXPECTING MIRACLES!

Congratulations! We are praying for you and for some "breaks" -- finding a house, gentle weaning process, etc. Don't try to do more than you can! This is something I'm having to remind myself of too. We would like to sell our house and move/build. All in God's timing, and God willing. Try to leave it in His capable hands and don't get discouraged!

Greetings:
We just found out that I'm pregnant with anothher little blessings -- I'll be 44 when the baby is due (mid Nov) and he/she will be my 6th, so of course I've done this before, but I had a miscarriage last Fall and so I'm a bit wary.
Any advice from some of you expert "old-timers" out there -- or anyone -- on special tips for older pg women. I was 41 when I had John-Paul, but I was REALLY healthy as we were living in a small Austrian village with no car and had to walk everywhere.
Blessings and please pray for a healthy pregnancy and delivery!

Wow, Mary, congrats. I will pray hard. I don't have advice to give...this is only my second at age 38.

Jenn and Mary,
I pray St. Gerard intercede for you.
May Our Lady of Guadalupe (I was told she is the only vision of Our Lady where she is expecting) wrap her mantle around you.
May Our Lord, who made Our Lady's womb a throne, grant you beautiful babies.

Congratulations Mary! I am not an expert (approaching old-timer, though), but will pray for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery. I know God is calling us to have more children, but I keep putting it off "another month" waiting to see how my dh's job change will affect things around here. And then I think if I keep "putting it off" that maybe God won't bless us with another......confusing....
You, and all the women here, having babies in their 40's are an inspiration! I am very excited for you and will be praying!

Dear Mary,
What happy news! I'm praying for you.
You've received great advice here, Jenn. Try not to wear the weight of the world. The only thing I can add is weaning consolation. Michael was exactly your son's age when I was diagnosed with cancer. He was weaned the night before chemo started at 20 months. It was a gut-wrenching experience for both of us, BUT he's really remained very attached and he still remembers nursing. Everyone else nursed for much longer, but Michael seems no worse for the wear.
