Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Before Poetry Friday, I wanted to ask what the rules are. When can you post a poem in its entirety and when can't you? What are the rules of documentation? What if you find it in an anthology? On the web?

OOH, good quesstion...I always understood that if it's already in the public domain, like on poemhunter.com that it's not necessary to give credit other than to the poet?? Lissa??? Love to know for sure as I'm itching to bump up my Poetry Blog

By the can someone explain what Poetry Friday entails??

Anything published before 1923 is in the public domain and can be printed in full. For works published after 1923, the copyright term varies: see here.

For works published after 1978, the copyright lasts the lifetime of the author + 70 years.

If a poem is still under copyright, I usually just quote a few lines and then link to it at one of the websites that has obtained permission to reprint in full.

As for Poetry Friday, all it is is posting a poem or a link to a poem. Commentary optional! It's just a way to share poetry & get more people reading it. Kelly at Big A little a started it, so I always link to her in my PF posts. It's also nice to include a list of the other PF participants that week, if you can--but that isn't always possible, and Kelly almost always rounds up the whole list, so there's another reason to link to her.

I'd like to participate in Poetry Friday tomorrow. Do I just link to Kelly's blog or is there a certain procedure for participating (i.e. do I have to let her know I'm joining in?).
