Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We were a military family, traveling all over the world and we have finally settled in Utah. We've been here since the end of March, but I hadn't been able to contact you all from mid-March until now (thanks for all your help, Tim). We bought a house and are moving in just after we return from my brother's wedding in Colorado in July. Life never slows down for us. In the meantime, we're living minimally, keeping as much stuff as we can in boxes. I am so looking forward to rooting in here. We love our new parish (which helps a great deal).

But it's so great to be back to this forum. Seems like it's been years since I've chatted with all of you.

God bless,

Real Learning...hmmm...    Let's see. I learned not to take children on overseas adventures until I forget that last trip. They were all well behaved, mind. They just tended to get sick like dominoes fall before the flight, during the flight, and after the flight. We had an hour's drive to London's Heathrow airport. In the airport, we had to get my 3 yos an "I love London" t-shirt because he got sick on his other one as well as on me (unfortunately, they didn't have "I Love London" pants).

On the flight from England to Chicago, my 8 yob got sick several times. Luckily, he made a basket in the sick bags they leave in the front of seats the first time. But I think we almost gave the lady sitting right next him a coronary as I was trying to sneak the bag under him. I kind of had to leap over several seats to accomodate him. The other times he managed to make it to the little rest room.

While we were in Chicago, there was no waiting for the next plane since we had to recheck all our baggage. My then 4 yod had to go to the bathroom. No one could leave the baggage check area and by the time we got to the bathroom...well, suffice it to say, I raced back to my husband and left my older daughter in charge of the younger one, grabbed some wipes and a change of clothes before her baggage was rechecked, and changed her clothes. After she was (relatively speaking) refreshed, I dug under the trash bag for a clean trash bag and stuffed her dirty clothes in it. Oh, the things a mother will do for her children.

The flight from Chicago to SLC Airport was blessedly uneventful.

When we arrived in SLC Airport, the kids just absolutely crashed on the baggage claim floor. We were quite the spectactle. By that time, we had been on the go for about 20 hours, with only catch-and-go sleep. For the first time in his life, my oldest was actually *glad* to fall into a blissful sleep.

That was March 30th. We're still not caught up on sleep.

So Meredith, are you glad you asked?!?

For other things we learned on our travels, I'll post on the Real Learning board.
