Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you ladies have used the Geography- a Literature Approach using the Holling books Paddle-To-The-Sea,Minn of the Mississippi,Tree in the Trail, and Seabird. Did you use the lesson plans from Beautiful Feet Books? Did you like it or what did you add to the study?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Jackie,
We used Tree in the Trail pretty much as a stand alone geography unit paired with a field trip down to La Junta and Bent's Old Fort. We also went to Santa Fe by way of Trinidad and had a picnic in Kit Carson Park. We toured .the Baca House and Santa Fe Trail museums. Oh gosh--if you ever catch me coveting anything, it will be a van that's road worthy and some gas money ; but I digress.

It was well worth reading before the road trips. I haven't seen the Beautiful Feet guides but I guess that you would probably be able to use the Holling books and some maps and take off on your own rabbit trails.

We also enjoyed Minn of the Miss. but didn't use any other guide with it either

Well, I set out to use the guide but once we got started with Paddle-to-the-Sea the kids wouldn't let me put it down. We loved the book so much we dropped everything else for a couple of days and did only Paddle-to-the-Sea. Before I started I had used the guide to request go-alongs from the library and to print maps off the internet.

I did like the guide, but we probably could have done fine without it.

We have the Paddle guide, but like MichelleW we haven't really used it as my dc just wanted to read it and explore on their own. We're going to do Seabird over the summer or early fall and I think I'll just use the map that I bought with the 4-map set sold. HTH!
