Please pray for the repose of his soul. He was shot Friday night in an altercation near a parking garage in our "nearest" city. He leaves behind a wife and two sons, as well as a stunned and grieving Navy community.
Last week this young man visited our Navy chaplain and asked for help finding God. He prayed and took a Bible home. They found it by his bedside Saturday morning.
Thanks for your prayers. His memorial service is tomorrow.

I often hear of people who die at the time in their life when they are closest to God.

Update...
The police have no good leads.
Our on-base memorial service was today. I have never, ever seen so many grown people in tears. Please pray for our grieving community.
Also, please remember our chaplain in a special way. Damen's wife asked him to do the funeral service. As well as sharing in our command-wide grief, this chaplain has never done a civilian funeral before (sadly, he lost 51 comrades in Iraq, so he's done plenty of memorials).
