My one-year-old goddaughter, Maggie, has hepatoblastoma, which is liver cancer so rare that literally only 1 in 1 million children get it. Yesterday Maggie's parents went to Georgetown University Hospital in DC and are planning to start Maggie's chemotherapy this coming Monday at Georgetown. They're very happy with the doctors they met there.
Please pray for Maggie, who of course is going to feel nauseated and achy after each treatment.
Also, please pray for an inexpensive solution to the "Where will Maggie's parents stay?" question. The hospital only allows 1 parent to spend the night there. This could turn out to be a problem if they need to take Maggie to the hospital in the middle of the night because she has become ill. They're hoping to find a couple of places to stay if this should happen.
Please pray that some of our parishioners will help look after the other 7 children in the family, should Maggie's parents need to get her to the hospital quickly. It's a 3-hour drive one way at the best of times. They plan to go to the hospital together (imagine being in a car with a vomiting baby with no one to help her for that long drive!), and they will need help with the other kids.
Thanks...your prayers really help. Maggie will be treated at a hospital that's a regional cancer center...and daily Mass is offered at the hospital, very comforting to her parents! I know your intercession on Maggie's behalf has helped make all this happen.

When our 3-month old baby was in the hospital, I stayed in the room with her. My hubby (and 3 other kids) slept at the Ronald McDonald House just a few blocks away. Just a small donation was needed and they had full use of the kitchen. Some people even brought donated meals. I don't know how near this location is to Maggie's hospital, but it's in DC:
1326 Quincy Street, NE
City : Washington, DC 20017-
Phone : 202 529-8204
Fax : 202 635-3578
I found it using this link.
Praying for Maggie and her family!
ps found the distance and directions for you -- this RMH is 17 minutes away from the hospital.
