Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Two in particular:
1 Jacques Cousteau
2 the important figures in the American Space program
I've been wading through amazon, looking for something good, feeling overwhelmed... and I thought perhaps you ladies might have some good recommendations!

Thank you!

Are you looking for more thorough bios for older kids? Not sure there, but there are some really good picture books on Jacques Cousteau.

The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau
Manfish: A Story of Jacques Cousteau

And during the summer of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing this thread was compiled - One Giant Leap for Mankind

There are lots of good books suggested there. They are more specific to the astronauts of that mission, so don't cover all the figures in space program.

Not a children's book - but I really enjoyed The Astronauts Wives Club.

Thanks, Mary!

I noticed Manfish and it looked wonderful.

I should have been more specific - I am looking for my 13 yo son. My husband wanted us to substitute these two topics in the 20th century exploration topic in Mater Amabilis' level 4. So more along the lines of a meaty biography. I think Endurance is the recommended book about Shackleton, for example. So something kind of along those lines?
