My 10yo son is interested in learning if there are any known "relics" from the Crucifixion such as the spear that lanced Jesus' side, the crown of thorns, and the Cross itself. Do you know of any books on this topic?

(Please forgive me if "relic" is not the proper term, I just can't think of what else to call it.)

You can read about St. Helena and the One True Cross. There is a Vision book of that title.

Our local Italian parish has what is considered a relic from the True Cross, a splinter of the wood. They offer it for veneration after their living stations of the cross during Fridays in lent. Some are, of course, skeptical and claim that most such relics are forgeries from the Middle Ages.

There is also a church in Italy that claims to have the cloth that Veronica used to wipe the face of Jesus.

And of course, there is all kinds of stuff out there about the Shroud of Turin. Exhibits come through here periodically with life sized replicas and lectures and question and answer presentations.

There is a great book called Relics by Joan Carroll Cruz that includes about the True Cross and other relics of Jesus.

It has been said that there are so many relics of the True Cross all over the world that if someone to put them all together it would be the size of Noah's Ark. I seriously doubt that, but I was thrilled to come across this article, Taking the Measure of Relics of the True Cross
THOMAS J. CRAUGHWELL which answers this.

I believe the largest relic and half of the INRI inscription tablet,is in the Church of the Reliquary of the True Cross at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem.

We love the book "Noble Lady", an older Encounter book (short) but action packed about St. Helen.
